Recently the H1B visa fee charges have been made to USD 4500 under the new US Border Security bill passed by the US House . Now H1B visa is of great interest amon the indian IT firms who send workers to US for on-site assignments and also many use this as a gateway to a green card , hence there is a lot of politics and beaurocracy among the indian IT firms in selcting the candidates for the H1B visa and most of the few selected for H1B visa are considered as blessed ones :) , or relatives or kin of the Boss ;-), . Well , this are a few of the criteria to get one's H1B visa filed , but then after entering the US one has to start looking for another job or sponsor for a green card if you are not a kin of the US boss.
This Visa was earlier charged a price of USD 2500 which was very less compared to the benefits this visa gives to the company f getting workers on lower wages and workers to get an entry into the United States to settle , so increasing it to 4500 is very well justified. Also The US government proposes to spend an additional USD 600 million to beef up border security and proposes to fund it by using proceeds from this hike in visa fees , it will be levied once it gets an aye from the House of Representatives and goes under the pen of Mr Obama , and hence become a law.
